Energy efficiency home improvement project
Our homeowners called on us to improve the energy efficiency of their home by replace their stucco siding and single pane windows and. Not only were they now going to be living in and enjoying a more comfortable home they received rebates for their new windows and insulation.
Single pane aluminum windows do little to offset solar heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. This home, as in the case of most homes built around the same time had no insulation in the walls.

Once the stucco was removed the house was insulated with Knauf’s EcoBatt sustainable insulation, and gaps sealed with insulating foam.

The siding installed is Certainteed’s Fiber Cement WeatherBoards siding in Dutchlap cedar. For maximum energy efficiency, we installed Milgard’s Tuscany style windows with their 3D MAX, Suncaot MAX glass.

Before
Prior to installing the new siding and soffits, the overhangs looked unfinished.
After
With the new soffits the overhangs now look cleaner and finished.
On the inside the vinyl windows were “dressed up” with interior trim.
By adding wood trim the, vinyl windows have the appearance of wood windows.
The exterior wood trim was kept simple.
